Donate to our Africa Drought Appeal

Donate to those affected by drought in eastern Africa, Yemen and north-east Nigeria.

The worst drought in decades threatens to leave millions of people in the region of eastern and southern Africa without enough food. Without urgent action, thousands of children will die from starvation or disease every day in these famine-threatened countries.

As part of its response to the severe drought, local Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteers are embedded in many of the most vulnerable and hardest-to-reach communities in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and Nigeria.

These teams are helping families in need with food and access to water and providing medical treatment to the severely malnourished. But as drought and conflict continue, the situation is deteriorating.

In response to an outpouring of concern, West Vancouver Secondary School is supporting the Canadian Red Cross to provide emergency relief in this critical moment.

Your donation today will ensure Red Cross teams can reach communities impacted by this crisis and help them get through the worst.

On behalf of West Vancouver Secondary School we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for your thoughtful donation.

"When man finally learns to control the elements... When the winds will be quiet and the earth cannot be torn apart...When there will be no loneliness... no destitution... no war... When the last hungry man, woman or child is fed... Only then will there be no need for the Red Cross."
