Hurricane Fiona has hit Canada hard, with power outages, homes destroyed, and infrastructure damage caused by torrential rain, flooding, high winds, and storm surge.

The Canadian Red Cross is working to get help to people in and around affected areas as quickly as possible and provide humanitarian assistance for new needs as they arise. Money raised will enable the Red Cross to carry out relief, recovery, resiliency and risk reduction activities in and beyond the region at the individual and community levels.

And thanks to a match by the Government of Canada, you can double your impact. The Government of Canada will match donations made to the Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal by Canadians and corporations up to October 23, 2022.

When we launch an appeal, donations made in response to it are used to help individuals and communities identified in the appeal recover from emergencies and disasters. The funds will be designated for the purpose for which they were given. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and effectively spent, we will strive to use any residual funds for similar purposes and/or in a similar geography to respond to other disasters and humanitarian needs throughout Canada.

The fundraising cost related to any emergency appeal will not exceed five percent.
