Donate to the 2023 Alberta Fires

The Province of Alberta declared a State of Emergency on Saturday, May 6, 2023 due to more than 100 wildfires burning in the northern part of the Province, putting numerous communities and tens of thousands of people on evacuation orders or alerts. With your support, the Red Cross is providing vital emergency aid to people impacted by wildfires in Alberta.

To support relief efforts on the ground, Rogers Communications is matching donations made through this donation page or by texting ($5 donation) the word ROGERS to 20222 (EN) or 30333 (FR) up to $1,000,000.

The Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta will match every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2023 Alberta Fires Appeal from May 8 to June 3, 2023. This means that every $1 donated will become $3 to support those affected by the wildfires. Eligible donations already received will be matched.

Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for immediate and ongoing relief, recovery and resilience efforts in response to fires, and community preparedness and risk reduction for future all-hazard disaster events within Alberta.

When we launch an appeal, donations made in response to it are used to help individuals and communities identified in the appeal recover from emergencies and disasters. The funds will be designated for the purpose for which they were given. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and effectively spent, we will strive to use any residual funds for similar purposes and/or in a similar geography to respond to other disasters and humanitarian needs throughout Canada.

The fundraising cost related to any emergency appeal will not exceed five percent.
