Thousands of people have been evacuated due to the wildfires across Canada. The country is experiencing an exceptionally tough wildfire season, with many families and livelihoods impacted.

The Canada Wildfire Fund will support pan-Canadian relief, recovery and risk reduction activities in response to the 2023 wildfire season. It has been created to support equity of assistance across Canada and address needs and gaps. Activities can include mitigation and climate adaptation to reduce future risks.

When we launch an appeal, donations made in response to it are used to help individuals and communities identified in the appeal recover from emergencies and disasters. The funds will be designated for the purpose for which they were given. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and effectively spent, we will strive to use any residual funds for similar purposes and/or in a similar geography to respond to other disasters and humanitarian needs throughout Canada.
