Donate to the Morocco Earthquake Appeal

Morocco was recently struck by a devastating earthquake, the deadliest in the country in over six decades. This disaster has left thousands of people homeless, in mourning, and in need.

The Red Cross Red Crescent is working to get help to those impacted by the earthquake in Morocco as quickly as possible. Money raised will enable the Red Cross Red Crescent to provide immediate relief, recovery efforts, and resilience and preparedness activities for future events in impacted and surrounding areas.

From September 8 to September 28, 2023, the Government of Canada will match donations from individuals to the Morocco Earthquake Appeal, up to a maximum of $3 million.

When we launch an appeal, donations made in response to it are used to help individuals and communities identified in the appeal recover from emergencies and disasters. The funds will be designated for the purpose for which they were given. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and effectively spent, we will strive to use any residual funds for similar purposes and/or in a similar geography to respond to other disasters and humanitarian needs throughout the world.

The fundraising costs, including trust fund management, related to any emergency appeal will not exceed eight per cent.
